Seen this before?
I know, I know. You've seen it right. Well yeah, but I wanted to show this thing properly. I really enjoyed painting it and I like showing stuff to you people who visit.
There is a story behind it and it goes something like...
London.....weekend.....hotel.....room service....painting of view
And now you know everything.
Enjoy

A Quickie
Ok, so this is a quick one.
It's a real quick sketch for the "something bigger" I spoke about in the last post. I didn't use any reference so it's far from perfect and it served two purposes, a chance to just get an idea down quickly and the opportunity to practice the digital art thing.
As before, enjoy and farewell until next time

A Balancing Act (or should I be Juggling)
It is a very tough thing to do and I am very aware that I am not the only one. But, I just don't seem to have enough hours in the day. In fact just trying to organise my life in my head at the minute is tiring enough.
I really only have a few things I need to do each day, which are (in no particular order of importance) be a dad, maintain a relationship, run and grow a business unit, go to the gym, general chores and stuff around the house, eat and sleep, the rest of the time available is mine to waste as I see fit. I choose to waste this time indulging my creative side (or drawing as it's usually known).
So, I am trying to get as much done as I can with the art thing, which includes this blog. I am trying to get involved in lots of mediums and practice the stuff I'm used to, plus I am trying to get started on something bigger and more long term (more about that in later posts).

Like I said, I know we're all in the same boat (and what a busy and productive vessel it is) it just amazes me that we are able to squeeze it all in. I guess all I'm really trying to say is, I just wish we all had more time.
Anyway enough writing, this blog is supposed to be about art. So, here's a drawing of an old man.
There are some photos of this being created that I will add when I load them on to my PC. Until then enjoy.

This is an elephant
Ok, so I know I really should be adding something to this post, but it's quarter past midnight and at the minute I really can't think. All I can say is that it's an elephant drawn from a picture I took. As always, enjoy

Finding Lessons (and more importantly Applying them)
The lesson for me this week is from an Q&A session by Emma Vieceli (check out http://www.emmavieceli.com/about/ ) from her The Emma Vieceli Residency on the Warren Ellis Whitechapel Message Board http://freakangels.com/whitechapel/comments.php?DiscussionID=7631&page=1#Item_0.
The lesson is about PATIENCE. This is something I've always struggled with and as Emma puts it
"I know in myself that I can technically apply myself to anything, any of us can, often what holds us back is our patience, and mine is awful. I get frustrated if I spend too long on one thing. I need to teach myself to spend longer on things XD XD"
It seems like simple advice, but it really rang true for me. Looking back it probably is the single biggest thing that has stopped me progressing. So I took that advice and ran with it (or should that be walked slowly?), anyway, this is what I ended up with.
I know it's a rubbish scan, but I had to squeeze my bound A3 sketch book into my A4 scanner and then stitch the two scans together but I think you'll get the idea and I will be trying to get a better scan to put up here..
Until next time

Where do I go from here?
So, I've really been struggling with where I should go with this Blog (or if I should even worry about where it goes, should it just develop naturally?). I don't want it just to be a place where I chuck a few sketches every now and then.
I have been thinking about directions to take and where my heart really lies. I think I have come to a decision. I can't say it will be more interesting, but I will try. And I really do want it to be something I feel involved with and not something I just do.
So.... for now I am just putting up these pictures of my set up as it is. The drawing table is brand new and replaces "lying on the floor with a pad". I've not really tried it out yet, but I will.
If you happen upon this blog, or if I've directed you here, please feel free to leave some comments to let me know I'm not alone in the world.
